Yes, I feel so privileged while pulling the hair from my scalp... If Helen Keller didn't need to use AI to write books none of you dweebs can claim to be too disadvantaged that you nEED to use AI. IF you aren't trying to let what's in your mind and heart freely flow out and fill the page (regardless of how "good" it is) just choose another hobby, please.

Exactly right. The struggle is the blessing, and anything given easy to the 'creative' is a curse.

This is a great defense of learning in general and the value of struggling to understand new and challenging ideas.

For a generation obsessed with valuing the journey, process, or ride, it sure is perplexing that they only value the outcome of intellectual exercises.

What’s most concerning is the general failure to understand that intellectual activity, specifically the process of learning or producing intellectual work, is a method for obtaining self knowledge.

The more comfortable we become with accepting that tools will shoulder the work necessary to learn how to think and how to understand how we think, the more comfortable we become with abandoning our humanity, as you said.

I hope that people head the warnings. More importantly, I hope that people think about something as simple as this: a person who acts virtuously we claim has great humanity, and a person who acts unthinkingly or viciously we say is an animal.

Let’s hope we do not become so unthinking that we lose our ability to exercise our humanity.

I'm an A.I. advocate, not pretentiously. A.I. is the beginning of something truly beautiful.

AI is about deciding the probability of something from prior data and LLMs (used in AI art and writing) are regurgitating based on probability. There's some really good uses of this. If you're in a foreign country and need to ask something, the regurgitation might get you very close to what you need.

Creatively, it is going to generate slurry. It's going to generate the equivalent of bad Telenovela scripts. And once it does there will be no money in it, because supply will increase which means price will fall.

Right now, it's fooling everyone because it looks creative and there's lots of talk of increasing the power, but that just means more accurate regurgitation. You might think you can use it to fill in some bits for you, but it's going to be better writing if you spend time on every word.
